' Burnley face the Arsenal youngsters in the Carling Cup tonight, will Burnley’s ‘Kaka’ get on the scoresheet?
Quote of the week has to go to 11-goal Burnley striker Martin Paterson, who has commented on his goal tally so far this season.
“I think I should have more at this stage. I was talking the other day with my dad and saying I think I should be on a lot more than I am, but I’m not Kaka so I can’t score every time.
“I’m reasonably happy with it, but I’m not fulfilled,” said the 21-year-old.
He’s certainly right he’s not Kaka, but with Arsenal’s young guns looming in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, his team-mates might be hoping for the Brazilian superstar instead.
In truth the Northern Ireland international is proving a big hit at Turf Moor following his summer move from Scunthorpe and has four goals in his last two appearances ahead of the Turf Moor tussle on Tuesday.
After Arsenal’s young guns destroyed Sheffield United and Wigan in the previous rounds the football odds compilers have chalked the visitors up at odds-on, with the Clarets priced at 4.8.
After defeating Chelsea and Fulham in previous rounds the in-form Clarets disposed of Derby at the weekend in their quarter-final dress rehearsal and they are not without a chance and could be worth a squeak at attractive odds.
Arsenal were solid in their win over Chelsea on Sunday, but only a few if any of that team will line-up against Owen Coyle’s men on what will be a bitterly cold night in Lancashire.
You never know Kaka himself might come up with goods – for the record Paterson is 9.0 to grab the first goal and set Burnley on their way.
