Chelsea manager Avram Grant expects to receive a substantial transfer kitty this summer, with names like Van der Vaart, Messi and Kaka not out of the question.
Chelsea manager Avram Grant is confident that he will be able to bring big names to Chelsea in the summer. This season, despite currently filling second spot in the Premier League and being in the Champions League semi final, Grant has faced pressure from the media and from fans regarding Chelsea’s form.
Despite this pressure, Grant is confident that he will be in charge of Chelsea next season and is looking forward to using some of the Abromovich wealth, to strengthen Chelsea’s cause.
Avram Grant:
We feel pressure all the time but it is a good pressure – I don’t want to live without this pressure. We are still fighting and will continue fighting even if the chances have been against us from day one.
Nobody told me I had to win a trophy this season but I want to win one. Most of the fans respect what we did for them and we respect what they did for us. We took a lot of points with so many injured players and with so many problems. But there was a good spirit shown by the team. The fans are like us, sometimes we are disappointed also. But most of the time we did a good job.
We know that Manchester United will spend a lot of money and Arsenal will buy a few players as well as Liverpool. We will do the same. We want to improve.
Money will not be a problem if we find good players to bring here. We are happy with what has happened this year, but we want to improve it.
Of course any player that can help us in this we want to buy him. I won’t speak about names. But let’s say that I would not object to one of those such as Kaka or Lionel Messi.
Of course top players still want to come here. Chelsea are a big club. They want to be bigger but it is a big club. Only one team can win the Champions League and only one the Premier. Do you think the players will only want to go to those teams?
