Chelsea have agreed a deal with Porto to sign Jose Bosingwa for £16 million, subject to the player passing a medical.
Jose Bosingwa, 25, is a Portuguese international right back currently signed to Porto.
It is thought that Avram Grant feels Chelsea are lacking quality in the right back position, with Paulo Ferriera and Juliano Belletti recently playing in that position. Bosingwa if signed, will be competing with his fellow countryman Paulo Ferriera.
FC Porto wishes to inform the market that a deal has been reached in principle with Chelsea for the definitive sale of the rights of Jose Bosingwa for the price of €20.5m. The club also announces that the agreement of this transfer will be made formal once the player has passed medical tests.
Chelsea can confirm it has reached agreement with FC Porto for the transfer of Jose Bosingwa. The player is now in England to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical.
