Charity Shield – Battle of the Football Boots

Sunday sees the annual curtain raiser to the new Premiership season; the FA Community Shield.

Manchester United and Chelsea have had indifferent summers in the transfer market, but they are sure to be the two teams to beat again this season.

Last season saw Ferguson’s men triumphing in the league, whilst Jose Mourinho successfully worked out a plan to overcome United in last season’s Cup Final, depriving the Red Devils of the league and cup double.

So who will win the first piece of silverware this season?

Here at Footy Boots, we have decided to pit Manchester United and Nike against Chelsea and Adidas (kit sponsors), to see who will come out on top.

Charity_Shield_Football_BootsIn the red corner is United’s tricky winger Cristiano Ronaldo wearing the Nike Mercurial Vapour III and in the blue corner is Chelsea and England left back Ashley Cole, and his Adidas +F50 Tunit‘s.

Nike’s Mercurial Vapour III displays a synthetic upper and a lightweight carbon fibre heel, allowing Ronaldo to accelerate away from defenders, whilst keeping good close control. The angled studs allow the Portuguese winger to stay balanced when changing direction quickly.

The synthetic ‘Nike Skin’ will mould to Cristiano’s feet, with a breathable cushioned internal heel cup, allowing heel support and reduction of movement.

Charity_Shield_Football_BootsAshley Cole will combat Ronaldo’s potent attacking threat with his Adidas +F50 Tunit football boot. Cole will have a range of chassis to choose from to help him halt his opponent’s surging runs. He may choose to wear the football boot’s lightweight, changeable chassis to help him keep pace with the United winger. Alternatively, he may wear a comfort chassis, with the Climacool upper, which will help ventilate the foot and add comfort whilst foraying up and down the by-line.

Which football boot do you think will come out on top and which player is likely to be on the winning side at full time on Sunday?

After Man U’s preseason, I think Chelsea don’t stand a chance. Sorry, but…common…Rooney and Ronaldo ofcourse…and Nani…and if Anderson plays then shit there’s like 4 Roonaldos out there. And Tevez…he is good but I don’t really care for him. I think they went through too much trouble to get him and they could’ve done with someone else just as well… But, whatever I’m just gonna go ahead and say Man U wins…
