Champions League Quarter Final Draw Keeps English Teams Apart

UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals Draw

champions-league-logo.gifThe draw took place earlier today for the quarter finals of the Champions League. The draw produced AC Milan vs Bayern as the match of the round as the two European heavyweights square up for a titantic clash over the first two weeks in April. Another tie of interest will be Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven in a repeat of the group stage games. Overall, all of the teams in the quarter finals will be confident of overcoming their opponents, as the competition looks wide open, and the winner could come from any of the eight teams who will battle it out in a few weeks time.

The Draw

1. AC Milan vs Bayern Munich
2. PSV Eindhoven vs Liverpool
3. Roma vs Manchester United
4. Chelsea vs Valencia

The draw also took place for the semi finals, to be contested on the last week of April and the first week of May, which would see the winners of match 1 meet the winner of match 3. The other match would then see the winners of match 2 meet the winners of match 4.

Possible combinations for a semi-final line up could be Milan vs Liverpool and Roma vs Chelsea. An all English final in Athens on 23rd May is also an appetizing prospect: Chelsea or Liverpool vs Man Utd. If it were to be an all-English affair expect plenty of red, gold and white football boots to be on display and sparks to be flying, making the Ali-Frazier boxing fight look like a schoolgirls’ picnic!
