Barcelona 1-0 (2-0 agg) Schalke 04
An unconvincing display, none the less, Barcelona will face Manchester United in the semi final of the Champions League.
It was a fortunate first-half goal last night that confirmed Barcelona’s victory. Krkic’s cross looped high beyond the reach of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, the ball struck the bar and fell into the path of Yaya Toure, Kolo’s younger brother, who nudged it home.
Although there were the odd threats from Schalke in the second half, Barcelona shut the Germans out.
The only concern on the night was the yellow card picked up by captain Carles Puyol, which means he will miss the first leg of the semi-final tie against Manchester United.
