Hot on the heels of the reveal of the new Argentina Home Shirt 2011, comes the new Argentina Away shirt!
Taking the classic Argentina away kit colour of blue, and changing it up with a smart fade graphic across the front, we predict the adidas are onto a winner with this design.
Opting for a deep navy blue in comparison to last year’s royal, adidas have given themselves a much greater freedom to work with other colours on this kit, with White & Gold detailing and trademark sky blue coming into the design.
Starting at the top of the shirt, we really like the three main colours being incorporated into the layered crew-neck collar. In stark contrast to the ‘modern classic’ of the Home kit, the Argentina Away shirt definitely has a more modern feel.
In a similar move to the Brazil home and Shirts, adidas have put a bold stripe across the chest of the new Argentina Away shirt, which definitely seems to be a trend with designers at the moment, though we’re really taken with the subtle use of the colours and pattern of the Argentine flag in the design (not to mention that it is, conveniently, three stripes!).
The sleeves don’t seem to be as fitted as the home shirt, giving a slightly more athletic silhouette to the players wearing it – and the tips of the sleeves also follow the same design as the colour – with the main three colours used again – giving a great balance and sense of symmetry to the new Argentina Away shirt.
Oddly, one of our favourite things about the whole kit is the new shorts! Juxtaposed against the very busy, very technical looking shirt – the plain white shorts with the black 3 stripes matching the new black background for the AFA crest keeps everything neat and smart-looking.
As with the home shirt, this is the ClimaCool version – aka the one that will be available to fans to buy – we’ve no official word yet whether there will be a player issue version utilising the TechFit/PowerWeb we saw on the World Cup kits, but we’ll update you when we get the official word from adidas!
Make sure you let us know what you think of this great-looking new release!
this shirt is a winner!
besides portugal’s away with that smart clean design, and indonesia’s home with that crazy watermark, i think adidas has catch nike up with this shirt!
the fade-away is genius! (i just keep wondering why the black crest got the darker blue section than the bright-white player number who got the lighter blue… i think the lighter blue could highlight the dark AFA crest better)
similar design to france’s last world cup qualifying stages
the kit looks sick but the beard reallly doesnt suit messi lol
Hoooooly shiRt!!!
Man it looks so cool!
@chocolate rain, hes trying to be like maradona 😀
Man i love this shirt too.
Not really loving it, but most of you are so i guess ill surrender to the majority, the thing i dislike most about adidas kits are how big shirts and especially the bottoms are..Especially now that theyve introduced the tight shirts which makes the shorts look like tents at times..
@ bob:
-_- Complaining about how big it is? Silly. Obviously the player issue ones will be tight or loose how the players like it and the fans can go a size down for better fit.
The very first time it popped onto my screen I vocalized a “Wow”. It is very very appealing to my eyes! It looks unique without being garish. Not always an easy thing to do.
@channo
yeah, they should make switch the fade, make the left side got darker blue to make player numbers more visible, helps refereeing too.
That shirt/kit is friggin’ sick!
Messi’s kinda short so perhaps he aln’t the best cat to show it off. Personally I’d size down and rock my socks low with the shin pads poppin’ like Totti.
