BECKHAM COULD STAY IN ITALY – LALAS

David Beckham may stay in ItalyAlexi Lalas, the former general manager of LA Galaxy and USA international, says it’s possible that David Beckham won’t return to the American club.

Beckham is currently on loan to Italian giants AC Milan and has already made an appearance for the club in their friendly win over Hamburg earlier this week.

His loan spell is due to end in March and Beckham was expected to move back to the MLS as he has a 5 year contract with LA Galaxy, signed in 2007.

However Lalas says that the 33 year old, who instigated the move to Italy in a bid to retain his fitness and force his way back in to the England team, may want to remain in Europe.

Speaking to the BBC, Lalas said:

grafite He has to do what he feels is appropriate for his career.

I think he wants to do well with the Galaxy but you only have one career.

The experience he’s going to have at Milan will benefit him individually, how much it benefits the Galaxy and the people that are ultimately paying the majority of his wages remains to be seen.

He’s back in his comfort zone at AC Milan, playing with one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a tremendous amount of talent around him, with incredible money out there on the field so it must be, in a weird way for him, a relief to get out there.
