Manchester United Go 7-Up Against Dried Up Roma
In the end there was no question of Manchester United overturning their first leg deficit, but the manner and emphatic nature of the win last night was a surprise to all, except perhaps manager Alex Ferguson. United lumped seven goals past a deflated, defeated and uninspiring Roma team, a Roma team that promised so much yet delivered a truly awful display, allowing the likes of United’s Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Carrick and Smith to administer what can best be described as a European spanking!
Manchester United 7 – 1 AS Roma (United win 8-3 on aggregate)
As United ended the night in seventh heaven, the figure of Alan Smith, wearing red/white Adidas Predator Absolutes, deserved special praise from his manager after a blistering display and a goal to boot, following a season of injuries and unfulfilled potential which is now forgotten for the comeback kid. In the other quarter final, a much more nervous and reticent Chelsea struggled past Valencia 2-1 on the night to win 3-2 on aggregate, with goals from Andriy Shevchenko and a last gasp winner from Michael Essien.

A great return to form from the bleached blond fiery striker who wears Adidas Predator Absolutes for power, speed and skill.
