So, there’s more hype surrounding the reveal of the new adidas F50 adiZero than perhaps any other football boots launch this year, thanks to it’s miCoach technology.
But how exactly will these football boots help you develop your game?
Well, it all starts the moment you leave the pitch.
With every boots/miCoach bundle that you buy, you also get included two additional bits of kit, a USB Dongle and a receiver for an iPod/iPhone/iPad.
The miCoach in the adidas F50 adiZero is an incredibly advanced bit of kit, and when you’re in range of either your computer (with the USB attachment) or your iDevice, the miCoach Speed Cell will begin to transmit all the data from your game or training session and upload it to the internet.
Once you’re all set up with a miCoach account (free), you can log-on to the online management platform and start to process your data.
Far from being the sort of activity that belongs in CERN, you don’t need to wear a white coat and have a bunch of letters after your name to process you miCoach sessions in the new adidas F50 adiZero.
Goal for next time – spend more time jogging, cover more distance. Oh and be better at football.
miCoach recalls all activity performed in your football boots for around 7 hours, and then displays the data as a timeline on your device. So, all you need to do is highlight the 2 hours or so you were playing football and the program will detect your activity across your 90 minutes playing time.
Once the miCoach has established your playing time, you can start to bring up all sorts of stats that you never though would be available to amateur athletes; distance covered, average speed, top speed, time active, time sprinting, time jogging and so much more.
We have it on good authority Leo checks out Footy-Boots.com before uploading his stats.
From there, you’ll be able to compare your performances week-in, week-out. Are you an all-action centre-mid? You’ll want to keep your eyes on the ‘distance covered’. Pacey winger? You’ll be more interested in your amount of sprints per game and trying to boost your top speed.
But that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Using the online miCoach platform, you’ll be able to compare your stats to those of other wearers of the new adidas F50 adiZero.
Using the iPhone app turns each game into a challenge to do better than last time!
This could be strangers that you think match the profile of your game, your team-mates (bragging rights, anyone?) or even the pros!
That’s right, adidas will be uploading stats from the likes of Lionel Messi, Ashley Young, Gareth Bale and more so you can compare you 90 minutes to that of your favourite player’s last game!
Who knows, you could cover more ground than Messi, or out-sprint Gareth Bale!
Reckon you can out-run this man?
adidas say this is only the beginning for miCoach in their football boots.
Every year, they say, they’re coming up with new innovations, and will soon be bringing us football boots that can track things like passes and tackles, too!
Will you be aiming to make the most of miCoach?

I believe it is a great product to improve the own performance. As far as I know it is not possible to check your data live with the micoach. The beMeister insole comes with a watch to check your performance on the pitch. Maybe not necessary for the matches, but definitly a nice toy for the trainings sessions.
So carry around a hefty laptop to record data or an required iDevice only? Why not make the unit connect over any open wifi, or open it for close proximity for all smart phones? Recording the stats is a bit restrictive and pro apple here.
I hope they’ll make an app for android 🙂
