NANI, KAKA, VAN PERSIE & MORE STAR IN NEW ADIPOWER AD

adidas have outdone themselves in terms of star-power for their latest TV Spot for the adidas adiPower Predator – bringing Kaká, Nani and Robin Van Persie together with guest appearances from Samir Nasri and Dimitar Berbatov!

Whereas previous memorable adidas Predator ads have seen the likes of Gerrard and David Beckham hit targets and destroy buildings with the raw power and swerve of their football boots, this ad sees adidas’ ‘new generation’ of Predator players taking control in the middle of the park.

Set at a frantic tempo to a soundtrack of blaring horns and ‘Wipeout’-esque drums, the actions starts and doesn’t let up as the ad replicates the chaotic and oft-claustrophobic atmosphere of the middle of the park, as our adiPower heroes try to make some space and control the play.

Rather than the spot ending with one of the adiPower stars bagging a goal for themselves, all three of the key athletes (including Van Persie) play a killer pass to one of their team-mates (Berbatov, Nasri and Benzema, respectively) and take the plaudits for putting the ball on a plate for their comrades.

As a whole, this ad sums up adidas’ new message for the adiPower in comparison to other Predator football boots; one of control over power, touch over ferocity and slide-rule pass over top-corner netbuster.

We can’t help but find it very interesting that this area of a footballers game is now being celebrated in ads for football boots; once upon a time, everyone wanted to play up-front and bag goal after goal.

Now, thanks to players like Xavi, Iniesta, Ozil and Kaká, the role of the playmaker is being celebrated and vied for like never before!
