adidas unveiled the MLS 2020 Official Match Ball, celebrating the continents league’s 25th anniversary called ‘Nativo XXV’.
The design pays homage to the 1996 original design created by Mitre Ultimax that was used in Major League Soccer.
adidas and MLS unveiled the special ‘Nativo XXV’, which features a special retro design for the league’s 25th anniversary. Sadly the match ball will only hit the scenes next season because the MLS has come to an end with the Seatle Sounders being crowned the 2019 champions. The MLS 2020 season kicks off on the 29th of February.
The ‘Nativo XXV’ is made from 100 per cent water-based materials and print colours, making it adidas’ most sustainable ball to date. The unique ‘Hi-White’ material used for the ball increases visibility on the field for players, good news for the goalkeepers.
Technology-wise the ‘Nativo XXV’ is the same as the recently unveiled Euro 2020 ‘Uniforia’ match ball but incorporating the colours and identity from the original Mitre Ultimax MLS ball.
MLS will celebrate the 25th anniversary in great style and the ‘Nativo XXV’ is just one of the many ways that it will celebrate its milestone year. Watch out for more celebrations to come.
