adidas have added another world first to their already impressive list as they launch the adidas Primeknit – the world’s first knitted football boots.
Aiming to deliver a truly barefoot – or at least socklike – level of comfort and responsiveness with the protection that we expect from all football boots, adidas launch of the Primeknit today marks something truly special in boot design.
Rather than being an extension of the F50 adiZero range, the adidas Primeknit is a standalone limited edition release that will be available to buy from Monday the 17th of March.
adidas say this is the closest they have come to delivering a bespoke, second-skin fit on a football boot that won’t compromise on performance or strength.
adidas’ primeknit has been at the heart of adidas’ running shoes since 2012, with adidas even having to fight hard to retail it at one point following a court injunction by Nike.
But since that was overruled, the primeknit concept has flourished into other sports before finally landing here on football boots.
Here on the adidas Samba primeknit, new levels of flexibility and comfort are provided by the one-piece knitted upper of the boot and the yarns used to construct primeknit provide stability and strength equal to conventional boots.
Each yarn receives a high precision coating that guarantees water resistance even in the most challenging conditions.
The advanced production techniques used to make primeknit also allow for the one-layer upper to be constructed with zones catering to various performance needs, ensuring that the adidas Samba primeknit caters to all aspects of the game.
The design’s one-piece upper is constructed without any wastage of material; making the primeknit adidas’ most sustainable football boot and the start of a brand new revolution in adidas football footwear.
Luis Suarez will be wearing the Samba primeknit for a limited period, having been spotted testing out a blacked-out version over the last few weeks.
Markus Baumann, Senior VP for Global Football at adidas commented on the launch of the new adidas Primeknit, “Every adidas product is developed with the player in mind and in particular, the needs of the player. By producing the world’s first knitted football boot we have provided a brand new solution to the search for higher levels of comfort and flexibility.”
“primeknit is a further demonstration of our commitment to driving relentless innovation in football and is designed to allow for a bespoke fit for each player, making performance more intuitive and responsive than ever before. primeknit is a technology that is right at the heart of adidas innovation and we’re excited about introducing this development into football.”

Weight?
165g
interesting, lighter than the just-released Magista, which does include a sock though. I suppose the primeknit will be just as protective as the F50 then?
When will be presented Adidas Adipure 11 Pro SL 2014?
Awesome. Now I just need to find a spare ÂŁ220 lying around.
hahaha
Its gone up to 300 Quid Now
Dose someone know that the price gonna be?
right now they’re like 1000 dollars
when will these be available to buy in the uk?
Ok what happens when Suarez gets stepped on by the SG boots of Ryan Shawcross or some other lumberjack? Do adidas actually believe that these can offer the same level of protection as a regular F50?
As a technical player I’m excited at the prospect, but as a realist I think this is the dumbest idea ever in terms of protection! Crunchy metatarsals coming right up!!!
yes, I guess that is my only doubt, because it seems like a perfect boot for touch and comfort and performance, but idk if protection will be as good.
F50’s have never been about protection, if you want boots that protect go get nitrocharges.
true. but the question is now, will these protect more or less than F50s?
I want to buy them but I don’t know how
This a good looking boot but i question the performance of this on the boot. I mean they could at least release more the 250 of them so the price could be cheaper so people would know. Who’s to say that if you get stepped on by a sg cleat it wont make a whole in the material. but still it looks great. its like the flyknits of nike and the magista
