adidas have unveiled the History Pack, a limited edition goalkeeper glove collection which sees some of the greatest goalkeepers of today pay homage to goalkeeping legends of the past.
Here is a new retro collection for keepers. Known as the ‘History Pack’ the collection features three different designs, with each pair of gloves has been inspired by a goalkeeping legend and then given a modern twist for the players protecting the nets today.
The first pair of gloves takes us back to the 1982 World Cup and Germany’s Toni Schumacher. This pair will be worn by Porto’s Iker Casillas.
The second pair, inspired by France’s Fabien Barthez in the 1998 World Cup, will be seen on the hands of Arsenal’s stopper, Petr Cech.
The third design is combines two era’s of Germany’s greatest keeper’s, with the 1997 gloves worn by Oliver Kahn recreated for Manuel Neuer.
Casillas, Cech, and Neuer were each involved in selecting the historic glove designs to be modernised by adidas. The players chose based on each glove’s historic significance within goalkeeping, and the retro design of the gloves.
Just 1,400 pairs of the gloves will be released to the public.
The gloves are based on the adidas Ace Zones Pro, featuring all the latest glove innovation including Evo Zone Tech grip zone on the fingers and adidas’ seamless touch negative cut palm.
First Wear: The gloves will be worn on pitch for the first time in the UEFA Champion’s League group stage on December 8th / 9th.
