Nine months after their introduction, adidas release a second generation Gloro football boot collection. Who said it was all about the ACE and X?
The Gloro football boot collection is a welcome model in the slimmed down adidas range. It fuses adidas’ classic designs with modern touches to to appeal to the modern footballer.
First launched in March 2015, the Gloro looked like it was set to replace the much loved Copa Mundial, but as you will see from this second generation Gloro, it has already started to morph into a more modern design, adiPURE anyone?

What’s the Gloro 16.1 all about, then? Let’s address the elephant in the room first. Gone is the fold over tongue and this change alone seems to completely change the overall look of the shoe, to its detriment in our opinion.
Beyond the removal of the fold over tongue it is hard to fault the Gloro though. For £80 or $110 US, the Gloro offers a boot that is either stellar or completely solid (depending on how flash you like your boots) for a price below any of the ‘statement’ releases and £30 cheaper than the Copa Mundial.
The adidas Gloro packs a K-Leather upper, but with much less stitching on the forefoot than the original, again moving away from the Copa Mundial.
A huge improvement on the original Gloro is the outsole, whilst the original looked and performed okay, this update shows that effort has been put in both in terms of tech with the new comfort frame, and aesthetically.
Four colours are available, two black, one red and one white. Our pick? The Black with Neon.
So with all these improvements, apart from the tongue, this boot offers a very reasonable price point for a decent boot.
