adidas Releases Full-Length Version of World Cup ad

Leo Messi adidas The Wake Up Call Video

If you thought adidas’ World Cup ad felt a little on the short side when it first aired during the Champions League Final back in May, you needn’t worry as a full-length version debuted alongside the opening game of the tournament.

Dubbed ‘Wake Up Call’, this full-length edit follows on from the ‘Leo Messi’s World Cup Dream’ spot that launched prior.

After dreaming about his fellow adidas athletes preparing for the World Cup, Messi grabs his phone and sends a few texts to be on the safe side.

Schweinsteiger, Suarez & co. all reply that they’re doing nothing to keep their training under wraps, with Dani Alves the only player to say something different; ‘Welcome to Brazil’ following Messi’s opening goal of the tournament.

Featuring an extended mix of Kanye West’s exclusive preview track ‘God Level’ and filmed by City of God director Fernando Meirelles, the full version certainly seems to be a more complete package than the shorter version, with more skills, goals and stars on show.

What do you think of this spot? Is the game for ‘World Cup’s Best Ad’ still hotting up?
