Adidas Win Image Rights of Lionel Messi
Barcelona star and Adidas +F50 TUNiT football boot wearer Lionel Messi has been in the news this week as a court case over the Argentine’s image rights has been won by Adidas over arch rivals Nike.
Messi signed with Nike when he was 14 years old, but in 2005 rejected Nike’s £120,000-a-year offer, instead switching to rivals Adidas for a reputed £400,000 a year endorsement deal, which saw the young' Argentinian' top the charts as the highest paid footballer on the planet.
Messi clearly held no bad-feeling to Nike football boot wearers, as he lined up beside Nike’s flagship player of the time,' Ronaldinho, at Barcelona each week and many others.
This capture by Adidas was a major coup for the German brand as Lionel Messi has become arguably the best player of his generation.
