Ready for summer, the adidas ACE 16+ laceless boot in a new Mercury Chrome colourway.
First introduced in January 2016, the boot without a lace has had the chrome touch, to link it in with the rest of the adidas Mercury Pack.
This is the colourway that will see the boot feature all summer, starting with the Champions League final and covering the Euro 2016, Copa America and Olympic tournaments.
As with all the ACE lines, the boot is set to be headlined by the likes of Mesut Ozil and Paul Pogba, players that control a game.
Marketed as the boot for high speed control, the ACE 16+ is ideal for the playmaker.
Compensating for a lack of lace to secure the football boot, a TPU cage secures the mid-foot zone, supported by a knitted upper and an internal knitted techfit locking system.
The upper of the ACE 16+ is made from Primeknit, which is essentially a knitted upper, combining tight and loose premium knits across the boot. It promises zero wear-in-time and moulds to your foot like a sock.
In terms of upper control, there is a thin layer on the upper with small raised dots that help offer grip on the ball.
The main feature of the ACE 16+ is that it is laceless. The top of the boot is smooth where you’d normally find laces. No edges, or additional material in the way, any contact with the ball is just between you and the ball.
Underneath the ACE 16+ uses the adidas SPRINTFRAME outsole, featuring an oversized heel cup. It’s lightweight and provides stability which is essential in the modern day football boot. The eleven conical studs provide a stable platform for use on firm grounds and 3G / 4G.
