PORTSMOUTH SACK ADAMS

Portsmouth badgeAvram Grant and Sven Goran Eriksson are heading the list to replace Tony Adams as manager of Portsmouth after the former England international was sacked last night.

Adams has managed just 2 Premier League wins since replacing Harry Redknapp at Fratton Park.

The Pompey board opted for action following the 3 – 2 home defeat by Liverpool on Saturday. Their last win came against Blackburn Rovers on November 30th last year.

The team were 7th in the League when Adams took over, but having taken just 2 points from the last 27, they now sit 16th and just 1 point above the drop zone.

Grant has been out of work since being fired by Chelsea in May while Eriksson is currently in charge of the Mexican national team. Another name in the frame is Alan Curbishley though any approach to him may be complicated'  by his ongoing claim for compensation against his ex club West Ham.
