Wigan ease towards safety whilst Reading are still in danger at the bottom end of the Premier League.Wigan started the better of the two relegation fighters and almost scored early on when Marcus Bent’s powerful header hit the post after a Koumas cross.

Palacios had a close effort on goal when he came in from the left hand side, but his shot went to high.

The second half began in a similar pattern to the first with Wigan in control.

Reading eventually got into the game and Leroy Lita and Michael Duberry both went close.

Both sides went all out for the winner late on, but it wasn’t to be and they shared the points.
