West Ham West Ham 2-2 NewcastleNewcastle

Newcastle clawed back from 2-0 down to earn a draw at Upton Park.

Mark Noble gave West Ham a 10th-minute lead, smashing home George McCartney’s cross.

Dean Ashton made it two for West Ham when he got on the end of Bobby Zamora’s flick and went one-on-one with Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper before smartly finishing into the bottom corner.

But Nigerian Obafemi Martins gave the Geordies a lifeline in the 42nd minute when he scored from Geremi’s fine ball.

Two minutes later and Newcastle were level when Geremi turned in a wayward Martins shot.

Neither side could find the winner in the second half and the points were shared.
