i agree with you jihn, a "new" company selling cleat more expensive than a mercurial vapor or a predator, don't say me that the nomud technology cost 260 euros, don't compare with the powerpulse or the light weight of the vapors.
i know where all that money goes... to footy-boots, jejeje, just kidding.
greetings

I'm just wondering why the boots costs 260 euro's as they don't spend money on big sponsorships. Where's the money going, it's a bit strange to ventilate your strategy with the public, saying: we don't waste money on sponsorship contracts! and then come up with a boot that costs 260 euro. Where's all the money going I wonder

Evening all,
Thanks for all the feedback Oliver! I appreciate the fact you all managed to stay with my article through all those numbers!
Quality bits of discussion from the 'Regulars' too I see!
I think I'm in the same school of thought as you, WP, if I ran a business and believed in my product like SS does I certainly would want to challenge for a market share - there's no reason they couldn't have comparable figures to Diadora or Mizuno if they wanted, with a little bit more of a push...
Fenboy's point is equally good, as he said, if SS had wanted to go down that route maybe he would've, but as someone who was a VP for the 3 stripes, perhaps he really wanted a change of direction for his own company!

It makes sense Fenboy I agree with you, but who doesn't want their company at the top of the tree?

Top piece Kyle.
Workout Planet - you might have thought that if SS wanted Nomis at the top of the tree, he would have gone down this route already.
By the sounds of it, he sells enough boots, employs enough people and makes a decent enough profit as it is.

When you look at those figures it is easy to understand why Simon has adopted that business strategy. but if he ever wants Nomis become a top end Football Boots company he will have to start thinking about sponsoring some top players in the future. Nobody cares what cleats a second division player is using.
