My problem with the undoubtedly fantastic-looking V1.08 is the discrepancy in size. I've been a Puma football boot wearer all my life and the UK9 fits me a treat but with the V1.08 which I ordered at a horrendous exchange rate + delivery charges overseas, the toe area with the walled, upward protruding lip allows toes absolutely no 'give' as traditional boots would resulting in excruciatingly painful stops and starts. Half a size larger would've been the obvious solution but here I am with traumatised and blackened toenails about to fall off and an expensive new boot never to be used again because of its unaccommodating construction. This is Puma's and not the retailer's mistake. Anyone know how/where I'd get a replacement or failing which, an apology?

This evening, I ordered a pair at a greatly reduced price. Not long after, I stumbled across your wonderfully detailed review. Now I'm even more excited to recieve them! (Incidentally, I'll be playing in arid Utah and will be wearing the FG version.)

Hi there,
Great review, and I am in total agreement, there is a scoop on the boot. Unfortunately I find that sometimes it hinders shooting and crossing, causing a lack of power and a scoop action. Nevertheless I love my red and black V1.08's, plus they were only £30 from sports direct. I find them great for passing the ball and dribbling, and they really seem to suit my technique. Can't be too bad, I lobbed the keeper from 40 yards last week, which was my first goal of the season!
Cheers.

Very nice review. The boot itself I have some qualms about but the review itself was juicy and informative.
Just like a comment above said, some reviews of the T-90 and mercurial would be welcome. Personally ,as a power player, I am torn between the predator x, t90 laser II and the CTR 360.
The predator and maestri have been reviewed so once you do the t-90 I can make an informed decision. I am leaning towards the ctr-360 because it seems durable, its features seem quite useful and straightforward (memory foam, hard surface on the instep for smacking the ball....why didn't anyone think of that sooner?) and it is cheaper. But it lacks the strike zone of the t-90 and predator that I really like. And it isn't the most glamorous boot even with nike-ID. I was about to get the T-90, thinking to myself that the ctr is for playmakers. But as alex song, javier mascherano and lucas demonstrate weekly, the ctr can help even midfield destroyers improve their game.
Unrelated: I have noticed that most new adopters of the CTR are finding form. Is this a coincidence? Amauri broke his extremely long goal-scoring duck. Fabregas began to play like a man possessed. Song, mascherano and lucas dominate games without breaking a sweat. Jan Vennegor of Hesselink also scored crucial goals for hull city. Ashley Cole is in form. Balotelli is doing quite well with the boots. Scott McDonald as well. James Milner is yet another. Van der vaart is getting increased playtime. Drenthe scores against AC Milan. The list goes on and on. The only player flopping in the ctr-360s is muntari. Or are there any others?

puma's FG sole plate is excellent, so i'm sure it's a lot better than the SG version.
for me, i still wear v1.06's, preferring the fit of those to anything else i've ever worn. i scan across the web to find retailers selling v1.06's, but its getting increasingly hard to find.

I love these boots. the firm ground studs are much less cumbersome than the soft grounds with there buck-tooth design in the front giving the illusion of a toe spike and the heel pattern along with the floating insole are great if anyone has trouble with bruised heels. The toe is a little different but its great for forwards with bigger feet cause you dont have to give extra space in the front so the material doesnt crush your toes (youll notice the vapor Vs have a higher toe than the IVs did). Ive got the contechs at this point but with the sales starting soon ill probably be stocking up for till puma can get its act together again.
