Â Puma have today launched the kits that Italy will be wearing when they defend their World Cup titles this summer.

The Legendary Azzuro strip has been engineered by Puma around the pride of the past and the battles of the coming World Cup. The unique collar uses it’s star-shaped design to subtly showcase the colours of the Italian flag, and the badge of the Italian FA showcases 4 gold stars – one for each World Cup conquest.

The home shirt features a graphic that encompasses the entire shirt, the design puts a futuristic slant on the gladiator-style armour that inspires it.

Another battle-themed part of the kit is the extra-think waistband of elastic around the shorts – which gives us a slightly boxer-ish feel here in the Footy-Boots office, which makes sense as Italy are the (Heavyweight) Champions of the World!

The white is really classy, but they’ve got to stop with the ghosted graphics. Especially with a team like Italy that has such an identity with its colors, those odd markings seem tacky. At least I think so.

The Home Shirt is Pretty Sick…The thick waistband on the shorts has to go though! Its gotta be pretty damn annoying…and the Away shirt is a bit bland…

Really nice. I love the home strip and the away is classy. I for some reason like the shorts even though I’m not sure about the waistband. Do they only have the blue shorts though? I think white shorts would look equally good.
