Exit arrowIt’s all about the relegation dogfight for the majority of games kicking off in the Premier League this afternoon.

Whilst Manchester United may have their eyes on the top prize in the lunch time kick off against West Ham, it’s top flight survival which will be interesting most other teams and their fans.

Fulham, Birmingham City, Bolton and Reading are the sides in the most danger but Middlesbrough are not yet certain of safety and Wigan could possibly fall back in to trouble if a bunch of results go against them.

And it’s a real 6 pointer at Craven Cottage where Roy Hodgson’s 2nd from bottom Fulham meet 3rd from bottom Birmingham City. That result will be of huge interest to Reading who know that whatever happens by the Thames, they’ll be in the bottom three if they lose at home to Spurs while Bolton could be back in the drop zone before they kick-off against Sunderland this evening.

And with calculators at the ready, here’s the scenario for Fulham and Birmingham fans who could be contemplating life in the Championship by the end of the afternoon.

Defeat for Fulham would see them go down, provided either Reading or Bolton take a point or more from their respective fixtures. A draw would not be enough for the Cottagers if the Trotters and the Royals both win.

But a Fulham win would send Birmingham back to the Football League should Bolton and Reading take all three points.
