If you saw the Footy Boots story on the new Manchester United away strip, you’ll have noticed the likes of Carlos Tevez in his new kit playing with the new Premier League Ball.

It’s from Nike and the Premier League Ball is called Total 90 Omni ball and will be used for the 2008 / 09 season.
The Premier League Ball has been delivered to all Premier League clubs ready for pre-season training and Nike say they are confident that it’s their most consistent ball ever produced having been tested and proven over 2 years in computer simulations, research labs and with some of the world’s top clubs and players.

For those of you who live for the jargon, here it is….enjoy.
Consistent Response: Reshaping the Ball, Reshaping the Game. No matter where athletes strike a football’s surface, they expect consistent response and touch. The Total 90 Omni Premier League Ball’s new, innovative panel geometry is designed to give them just that. Engineered hexagons and pentagons fit precisely together to create a nearly perfect sphere. The patent-pending design distributes pressure more evenly across panels and all around the ball to create what the engineers are calling a “360-Degree Sweet Spot.” It’s more predictable and more powerful wherever it’s hit. Maybe most important, players say it gives them added confidence when they approach the ball.
True Accuracy: Aerodynamics On Target. Nike’s answer to shots and passes that drift off their intended mark is an exclusive, aerodynamic micro-grooved PU casing. It was developed in the wind tunnel, and designed to fly faster and truer to the target.
Enhanced Visibility: Eye on the Ball. Elite football players have to react to a fast-moving ball on a field filled with fast-moving players. To help them make better split-second judgments, Nike introduced performance graphics and colour to the game in the original Total 90 Ball. The Total 90 Omni Premier League Ball takes the idea to the next level. A new, red asymmetrical band encircling the ball generates a more powerful visual signal as it rotates, providing a quicker read on ball location, spin rate, speed and trajectory from any angle. It’s designed to help athletes make better decisions at top-speed, when the pressure is on.
As punters, we’ll get a chance to see what some of the world’s top players can do with the Premier League Ball when the new season kicks off on Saturday 16th August.

looks cheap compared to adidas footballs, at least all nike sponsored players wont have to complain about the performance of the ball.
