Nike have officially launched the Ronaldinho signature line, also known as the 10R Collection.

The Ronaldinho collection includes football boots, apparel and equipment. This is the first signature collection designed with a footballer by Nike. Other sports stars with their own Nike collection include Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods.

Onto the football boots I hear you say…

Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho

Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho Football BootsThe Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho has been developed on the foundations of the well recommended Nike Air Legend football boot. This modern, yet traditionally styled football boot is built using soft K-leathers (kangaroo), it has an improved outsole and a larger sweet spot. This is a fine football boot!

Upper

“With the way I play, I needed a bigger sweet spot,” said Ronaldinho.

So Nike gave him a Tiempo Legend and asked him to draw what he wanted on the football boot. That resulted in a longer Vamp (the bit above the toes) and a smooth medial side (the bit on the inside of the toe).

The heel is lined with supple leather for added comfort. The extended fold over tongue covers the laces for a clean strike surface, and is secured with Velcro.

Outsole

Ronaldinho Football BootsBecause Ronaldinho learned his trade playing 5 a side where keep the ball under your feet longer and you dribble with more speed and control. He wanted this reflected in his football boots.

So Nike designed the outsole and studs to match his game. The studs offer textured thermo-plastic urethane tips for better ball control and superior traction. And the outsole offers midfoot and rear stability coupled with three distinct forefoot flex-groove areas for maximum comfort, control and flexibility.

Sockliner

The full-length PEEVA sockliner with Poron inserts provides a low to ground feel, with great cushioning, plus a high-density EVA arch support.

Style

The Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho football boot has a polished leather, as Nike said, for a ‘dressy appearance’. Detailed stitching is found around the football boot which further enhances its aesthetic appeal.

Players: Ronaldo de Assis Moreira - Ronaldinho

Price:
£100 - available for order here
Verdict: Just like the player, these Nike Tiempo Ronaldinho football boots are magic!

I got these football boots a couple of weeks ago, and I was so in love with them, I didn’t want to play with them, just keep them clean and shiny for ever. Anyway, I play professional for an academy, and I decided to wear my new boots today against Aston Villa, in the changing room every one loved them and said that they were -sick- and etc…. lol. They fitted great with the football socks, and once on the actual grass the felt very low ground, which was strange but very good.

The grip on the ball and ground was amazing, I think it was because the studs are all textured! But I felt like I could get to the ball much faster and I had much more grip on the ball, which with me is great, due to me playing very much the same as the Ronaldinho himself.

Well at the end of the game I thought the football boots were great and I was very happy with buying them, however….. when I got home and started to clean them, the leather was all wrinkled and lined, which I was very disappointed with.

As I went on cleaning them, I noticed that the glue that kept the leather part and the studs together was starting to come off, and I’d say it’d come off all the way in about 3 weeks, or say 4 games! Of cource with me not being Ronaldinho or very rich, this is very bad because I wouldn’t get a new pair everyday like Ronaldinho, or be able to buy a pair everyday, i’m jus a kid that gets the odd football boot every 6/9 months if im lucky.

But this problem was only on the right football boot, and nothing was wrong with the left, so it left me wondering if all the boots were the same or that this one just wasn’t glued properly. So tomorrow i’m calling the store to complain and see if I can receive a new pair, because that’s just silly, wearin a boot one game and it breaking!

But in total I’d have to say the actually football boot, regardless or its appearance after use, is the best football boot i’ve ever had, and I just currently changed from Air Legends for them, so they are pretty good!

That happened to me too and it worries me. I worked a long time to earn the $160 (I am just 14) and then after playing just 1 day the sole is coming apart from the upper. It is most noticeable on my right foot (I was practising free kicks that day.) and a little on my left. There is a product on soccer . com that is for this so I will be looking to get some. I forgot what it is called but it is similar to super glue and comes in a small tube (also like superglue).

Are these football boots comfortable? I have the Mercurial Vapors and they tear my feet to shreds. Other team mates are telling me stories of having to wear theirs in the bath for an hour a few weeks in a row, smothering their feet in vaseline to play, even some wrapping their feet in bandages to prevent the damage. I’ve had my Vapors for a long time and think they will wear out before they wear in. Please tell me these footy boots are a comfortable Nike option?

These are the best pair of football boots I’ve ever purchased. I was amazed at the total control you have over the ball, it’s ridiculous! I was dribbling around the house in socks, then I put the footy boots on and It was like I was writing with a pencil.

I’ve got them.. but I don’t know how to clean them properly, because someone told me don’t use liquid cleaner because it mucks the leather up.

matt said: Comment 10 April, 2007 @ 6:56 pm

i bought these shows the other day and i fell in love with them i think the problem some of you are having with the leather is that because its kangaroo leather you actually need to care for it and buy this other stuff (forget what it is sry) to keep the leather at the same shinyness and and keep the wrinkles out. this was the same stroy with a pair of umbros i bought back in the day when leather was the best to have on your shoes. you just apply it after everytime you wear them to keep your boots in the best shape and looking new. i suggest you go to the store you bought them from and ask them if they have anything for leather boots.

These Tiempo Ronaldinho boots are just wonderful..No wonder why it was made by/for Ronaldinho himself. Pure dribbling and always give me a good, clean touch with a good precision. For me, this boot is a combintation of T90 and Mercurial Vapor III…You should try it coz i guarantee you, it’s not going to disappoint you. It’s also very light too.

i just got a MVIII about a few months ago, they were great for the first match, but i bled from blisters for weeks. after healing, i tried again and agin, and they kept cuttting me up. no matter how i taped, etc.

i need a good replacement. and when i heard u say they’re like the MVIIIs i got interested.

my only concern is if they’re actually durable and good for constant use. they look like a piece of art, too shiny etc. I wanna use it like a crappy cleat that i’ll beat up every day.

I bought a pair of these in desperation one day and was skeptical about the height and positioning of the blades that support the heel. I found the stability wasnt as great as the total 90’s id had before them, and wasnt really on par with other football boots i had worn. Two rolled ankles later and i am not going to wear them next season. The new nike lasers look good or i might give the predator a go.

As nice as these shoes are out of the box, I can’t really recommend them. I will echo others, in saying that I fell in love with these boots right away. They look and feel very good. However, they are not durable. I was religious about taking care of the leather and cleaning them after games and practice. But the upper came apart from the sole after only two months, using them 3-5 times per week. That is not nearly long enough for a boot of this price. If you can afford to purchase several pairs, then do it. Otherwise, use something else.
