Nike complains about Umbro’s use of England players in the England Kit promotions.

New England-Shirt-Nike complained about the way Umbro had planned to use Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Paul Robinson, who are all on Nike contracts, in promotional material to promote the new England shirt.

The FA were called upon to step in and resolve the issue as Umbro’s contract with the FA insists that England players must be available for use in groups of four or more.

During the photo sessions, Umbro cleverly arranged the players to conceal football boot logo’s and is such a way that individual players could be separated from the groups, to allow for easy use of a single player for promotion.

The FA stepped in to arrange a compromise and the New England Kit will launch as planned, on the 6th February, the day before the England friendly with Spain.
