When Manchester United play their opening Premier league game of the season, a home encounter with Newcastle United, the players will emerge from the tunnel at Old Trafford wearing their traditional red shirts and white shorts.

Seven days later with Fratton Park the venue and Portsmouth the opposition, United will wear their brand new Nike away kit for 2008 / 09 for the first time.

It features a white shirt, blue shorts and white socks and is available for pre-order as from today.

The kit has been modelled by Carlos Tevez and Frenchman Patrice Evra, who probably saw more action setting up the publicity shots with the official Nike photographer than he did playing for his country at Euro 2008.
