Liverpool 1-0 Man City
Fernando got the goal, but Sven got the cheers.
Man City fans voiced their support for boss Sven Goran Eriksson, but Fernando Torres didn’t do him any favours.
Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson looks likely to be on his way out of City in the summer, club owner Thaksin Shinawatra wants a change, but the City fans don’t agree. The fans made it clear by chanting his name throughout their Liverpool defeat and Sven acknowledged the effort by bowing and waving back at the faithful.
Despite their support for Sven, supporters of City will not be as happy with the result.
In a drab affair, Liverpool deservedly broke through on 58 minutes. Typically it was the Spaniard Torres who scored, he outpaced Richard Dunne, ran into the box before sliding into the far corner, his 32nd of the season.
Torres has been consistent throughout the campaign, but has really excelled of late he has now scored in eight successive home league games which equals the club record set by Roger Hunt.
