Form ahead of World Cup 2010

Ghana were the first African team to qualify for World Cup 2010 and in the final qualification round they had not conceded a goal until they were safe with qualification guaranteed. Their form in recent friendlies has been inconsistent with a 1-0 win over Nigeria a highlight and a 4-1 drubbing by Holland at the opposite end of the scale.

Key Players

Sulley Muntari and Stephen Appiah.

With no Michael Essien, Ghana will be relying heavily on Sulley Muntari and Stephen Appiah in their engine room. That said Essien was missing during the Africa Cup of Nations (as was Muntari and Appiah) and Ghana managed to reach the final. The powerful duo could help Ghana reach the second phase, for the second time in succession!

The Gaffer

Milovan Rajevac has a low key background. Before landing the Ghana job he had never coached a national team and had only gained honours in his native Serbia. He’s tactically astute though and has got Ghana playing a powerful, yet defensive game that makes them hard to beat.

Prediction – Round of 16

your accuracy is astounding. You were even able to pick up that kevin prince changed from the yellow vapour v’s he’s worn ALL season to adizeros. And the reserve squad boots are spot on as well, Well done footy-boots. A pat on the back for your information source!
