RIO FERDINANDAlex Ferguson will be pleased to learn that Rio Ferdinand has not broken his foot.

Manchester United and England centre back Rio Ferdinand has not broken his foot. Ferdinand was withdrawn from play during Sunday’s fixture against Middlesbrough, with twenty minutes to go. He left the stadium on crutches and with his foot in a protective cast. There were serious concerns that Ferdinand may have broken his foot, which along with Vidic who is on the medical table, would have meant that both of Manchester United’s first choice central defenders were missing.

Following a scan today, Manchester United confirmed that there is no break to his foot, but did not give any further detail as to the state of the injury. It is suspected that Ferdinand will miss the midweek Champions League tie with Roma, but he may be fit to face Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend.

A club spokesman made this brief statement:

Rio Ferdinand Rio went for a scan on Monday and we can confirm that he has not suffered any break.
