Arsene Wenger has promoted Cesc Fabregas as the new captain of Arsenal. Whilst William Gallas will play for Arsenal against Dynamo Kiev in Europe this week.
Cesc Fabregas has been named by Arsene Wenger as the new Arsenal captain.
William Gallas’s position as captain was in doubt following his comments in the media last week, which berated some of his team mates.
Wenger decided to name 21 year old Spanish international Cesc Fabregas who has proved his pedigree both with Arsenal and with Spain, where he won the European Championship.
Fabregas will wear the armband for the first time as official club captain when Arsenal play Dynamo Kiev in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Fabregas was officially announced as captain during a press conference today by Arsene Wenger, although Arsene would not give too much detail on why Gallas was demoted.
Arsene Wenger:
I do not have to explain why, I will not give any further information. This subject is closed.
I did not make a mistake in making William Gallas captain.

I believe it was a wise decision, despite the fact that Fabregas is only 21 years old.
