Edwin van der Sar saves three penalties, as Manchester United beat Chelsea in the Community Shield.

In a physical game at the ‘New Wembley’, Manchester United came up trumps in a penalty shoot out, after the game was drawn 1-1 in normal playing time.

Veteran Ryan Giggs, wearing Reebok Sprintfit’s opened the scoring for Manchester United on 35, scoring his first goal at Wembley. But Chelsea were level again, shortly before half time when Florent Malouda, wearing Total 90 Laser’s, took Ashley Cole’s pass and fired home at an angle.

The game was played with a physical edge, and both teams had chances to score in the second half. Shaun Wright-Phillips was getting a lot of the ball for Chelsea, but his final ball was often lacking.

The game went to penalties and whilst United fired all their penalties home, Van Der Sar didn’t let one past his beanpole frame, saving from Claudio Pizarro, Frank Lampard and Shaun Wright Phillips.

In our preview we picked out the challenge between Cristiano Ronaldo and Ashley Cole. Despite United winning the game, Man of the Match went to Ashley Cole, so perhaps Cole can give Ronnie a wink ;) on his way out of Wembley.

I predicted that Man U would win outright but it didn’t happen. They were nervous and they started with 6 defenders on the field and only 1 proper striker (Rooney wearing NIke Total 90 Lasers). I expected a more attacking starting 11…and I thought Ronaldo (MVIIIs) would do very well but…ofcourse…he got booed…and the 1st time he tried one of his moves he screwed up and lost confidence…so he was never as good as he could be. Also, Nani came on as a sub and like Ronaldo he started the game off by slipping and losing possession and his 2nd touch went to a Chelsea midfielder… and ofcourse Petr Cech was amazing so even though Man U had more chances…it was still 1-1…but then Sar saved all 3 pks which none of them were good shots but still good saves. Basically, there were 22 nervous/scared guys on the field…

Actually, all of Chelsea’s penaltys weren’t even close to the corners so well…not a really good shootout. A good one would be the U-20 world cup England v. Holland where injured Steven Taylor was forced to take a pk and then England lost it was like 14-13 or something like that cause the last shooter hit the bar…that was a good one.
