Marco Materazzi has received substantial undisclosed damages from the Daily Mail who claimed he aimed racist abuse at Zinedine Zidane during the World Cup final in 2006.

DAILY MAIL MATERAZZIInter Milan and Italy’s Materazzi, has scored a win over the Daily Mail today.

In London’s High Court Materazzi’s lawyer’s cleared allegations that he racially abused Zinedine Zidane in the lead up to the French legend being sent off during the 2006 World Cup Final.

The newspaper accepted that all of the allegations they made were wholly untrue and that there was no question of Materazzi having said anything of a racist nature to Zidane such as to goad him.

The Daily Mail cliamed that Materazzi had said that Zidane was “the son of a terrorist whore”.

Jonathan Price, for Associated Newspapers, said that it offered its apologies for the distress and embarrassment caused, and had agreed to pay Materazzi substantial damages and his costs.

So what did he say to wind Zidane up?
