Chelsea have rubbished reports that their Brazilian defender Alex has asked for a transfer.

It was reported that the 26 year old had demanded a move earlier this week, apparently upset with his lack of first team football. Other reports linked him with a £10 million move to either AC Milan or Sevilla.

But a statement on the club’s web site states that they have had no contact from Alex or his agent on the subject. Chelsea said:

Chelsea would like to make clear that no transfer request has been received from any player.

Chelsea will decide the future of any contracted player in the best interests of the club.
