In what is sure to go down as one of the fan-favourite colourways for the ages, Nike have taken the Vapor back to basics as part of their Back to Black collection.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor IX – Black / White / Red is certainly one slick number, and after wearing some of the boldest, brightest colourways on the planet for the past few months, Vapor wearers like Cristiano Ronaldo, Theo Walcott, Eden Hazard and more will get to start the 2013-14 season in these understated stunners.
One of the first pure black and white Mercurial colourways we can think of from Nike in a good long while, the Swoosh have certainly picked a great incarnation of their signature speed boots to bring it back on.
Whilst the black upper/white swoosh is pure EC2008, the Speed Control Texture that characterises the Mercurial Vapor IX looks almost alien in origin on this colour-up.
Phil McCartney, Nike’s VP of Footwear for Football says “Reverting to a classic look is just as powerful a statement” as wearing bright colourways and on the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX – Black / White / Red we would absolutely agree.
As well as the Speed Control Texture upper, the MVIX continues to boast the impressive All Conditions Control for consistent feel on the ball, whatever the weather.
The Nike Mercurial Vapor IX – Black / White / Red are available to buy beginning July 1 in the U.S. and from July 22 globally.
Are these the colourway you’ve been pining for, Mercurial fans?
