Birmingham City went 2 nil up against a much changed Liverpool outfit but let slip their advantage as their relegation worries intensified.
Mikael Forssell lashed in a shot at the far post to put the Blues ahead, and Sebastian Larsson put away a stunning free kick to double the advantage.
But Peter Crouch, in a rare start, guided in a shot to haul the Reds back into the game.
Liverpool penned the Blues back and Yossi Benayoun equalised with a deflected header, which all-but secures fourth spot for the Anfield side.
