Benni McCarthy came of the bench to send Arsenal out of the FA Cup at Ewood Park.
Arsenal’s woeful week got worse last night. After losing to Chelsea in the Carling Cup on Sunday, Blackburn sent them out of the FA Cup last night, with a 1 - 0 win at Ewood Park.

On 62 minutes Benni McCarthy was brought off the bench, having just recovered from injury. With just 3 minutes of play left to go, he eased past the cumbersome Senderos and unleashed an unstoppable drive that gave Almunia little chance.
Arsenal had controlled the majority of the game but, as has been the case on several occasions this season, couldn’t find the net.
The Brazilian Julio Baptista, was guilty of not taking his chances and Arsenal were denied two penalty claims, perhaps Arsenal need a clinical finisher like Benni McCarthy?
Blackburn now face Manchester City in the next round on March 11th.
