Mickey asked:

I am looking to purchase a new pair of boots but i am not sure about the sizing, can u please tell me how tight the boots should be around my foot?

Thanks

Answer

Hi Mickey,

The best way to size up your football boots is to go to your local store, armed with your football socks and try on some boots.

You should look for a snug fit to prevent blisters, but not too tight that your foot is uncomfortable.

Some pro’s wear football boots which are a size or two too small with them, but its not recommended, as that can lead to injury.

harvey asked:

i play for east of england and i want a pair of real vapors but i want them in size 5?????

Answer

Hi Harvey,

Bad news, the Mercurial Vapor’s start in a size 6. Eat a few more greens and you’ll soon be in a size 6.

Lisa asked:

my boyfriend tells me that some footballers have microchips in their football boot for recording data. I don’t believe him. Is he winding me up?

Answer

Hi Lisa,

It’s certainly news to us Geeks….

Ivana asked:

Hi!Do you have any idea how to prevent or make less painful blisters ‘earned’ while playing? I have huge problems with them, especially on my thumbs.
Cheers and thanks

Answer

Hi Ivana,

We’re not sure how you manage to get blisters on your thumbs….

But if you want to prevent blisters we suggest making sure you get the right fit of boot to start with, break them in properly and to try putting vaseline on the sore spot before you put your socks and boots on.

For more info on breaking your boots in, check our article on Breaking In Football Boots.

joe asked:

the goal line technology to be introduced (as they say) is perfect, and adidas is proud of it, does it use any software like ??? and if it does, how does that software works ?? am just curious cause am planing to make a research on it as for my coursework.

thanks !

Answer

Hi Joe,

You’ll be pleased to know that us Geeks have done a lot of research into goal line technology of the years. Recently some articles were written on the subject, here at Footy Boots - you’ll find them here - Goal Line Technology

Good luck with your coursework!

Charlie asked:

Mouhamed asked:

What kind of fit do the addidas F50.8 tunits have?
Thanks

Answer

The width is regular as well as the length. One thing of note is the toebox runs normal but the tip narrows.

Ivana asked:

Hi! Is there anywhere video of C.Ronaldo putting his socks, shin guards and tape before the match to look so great?
Thanks and Cheers

Answer

Unfortunately no, but I can inform you of how he wears them. He has the United socks cut at the ankle and then wears the more comfortable ankle socks under them. He then applies regular athletic tape around his ankle and lower foot.

Sarah asked:

Which boots does Chris Klein, who plays for Real Salt Lake, wear?

Answer

Chris Klein is a wearer of the black Adidas +F50.8 and currently plays for the LA Galaxy.

Ali asked:

What is the difference between nike vapor aero and nike vapor iv? And what is their fitting like?

Answer

The Nike Mercurial Aero & the Nike Mercurial Vapor IV are the same boot. It is a misconception that the Aero is a separate boot, but the fact is there is no such boot and that some sites refer to IV’s as Aero’s. The fitting of the boot is a normal width, unlike the previous Mercurial Vapor boots which ran narrow. Another note is that the toebox is wide.

Charlie Rann asked:

What boots do Flamini and Clichy of Arsenal wear?

Answer

Matthieu Flamini wears blacked out Adidas +Predator Absolutes while Gael Clichy wears the Adidas World Cup football boot.

Jay asked:

Is the Tunit line just good for narrow feet or do they stretch for wider feet, like Air Legends?

Answer

The Tunit line actually has Wide Fit lasts availible to buy and aren’t really narrow. They have a normal foot width so I suggest the best option is to try the boots on before making a decison on buying them.

Toby asked:

A friend of mine bought the adidas adiPure(Kaka’s boot) and he said it molded to his foot shape the second he put it on, so would it be all right if I bought it even though I have wide feet?

Answer

Hi Toby,

The adiPURE uses a very soft leather, so they will feel very comfortable. As always, its worth trying the football boot on before purchasing as everyone’s feet are different and the most important thing to consider is a good fit.

m harrington asked:

Ive just bought some blades for the first time, but have now heard they can cause you to damage knee ligaments, is this true

Answer

Hi M,

There is no conclusive evidence to suggest that bladed football boots cause injury to knee ligaments, however we have researched and written several articles on injuries which may be of interest to you - Football Boot Injuries
