Asia Against Premier League Overseas

The Asian Football Confederation has joined the growing list of despondent parties, regarding the Premier League’s plans to host an extra game overseas.

The BBC reports that AFC president Mohamed bin Hammam said: “It’s not a good idea to organise domestic leagues in other territories. My recommendation would be to reject initiatives of this nature.”

It seems Asia would be keen on initiatives that help boost their local game, but not the plans that are in place by the Premier League.

US officials have also suggested a reluctance to back the idea.
