Shearer Issues Final Call For ‘Football Heroes’

Football legend Alan Shearer has teamed up with his former football boot sponsors, Umbro to promote grassroots football through the “Umbro Football Heroes” awards, that will reward the unsung volunteers who are the lifeblood of the national game.

The former pro, now a TV pundit, will run a special coaching session for the overall ‘Football Hero’ winner but not before nine regional heroes from across England are found to represent the true spirit of football in their area. All winners will also receive tickets to a top game at Wembley Stadium and delivery of a full set of UMBRO training kit and equipment for their club.

The closing date for entries is Saturday 30th June and Shearer is appealing for those involved with the game at an amateur level to put forward their local ‘football heroes’ by posting their nomination on the campaign minisite at www.umbrofootballkits.co.uk
