Former England, Newcastle and Manchester United striker Andy Cole was arrested yesterday allegedly for domestic assault at his home.

Andy Cole spent yesterday in police cells after he was arrested, for allegedly beating up his wife.

Cole returned from a Christening bash for his pal Dwight Yorke’s baby. At his £2.4 million mansion, in the early hours, the police arrested Cole.

A friend of the footballer said to the Daily Star: “Andy and Shirl have known each other forever but their relationship has been fiery along the way. They went separately to to the christening at Dwight’s place for whatever reasons and both seemed in good spirits while they were there. However, what on Earth kicked off when they got back home, only they really know.”
