Chelsea 3rd Shirt

Chelsea unveils their brand new 3rd kit this evening in a friendly against Brondby.

Chelsea will be kitted out in Denmark this evening, with a new 3rd shirt.

chelsea_3rd_shirt

The Chelsea 3rd shirt, made by Adidas, is built based on the same features as their away kit, you know the luminous yellow one electricity yellow (view the Chelsea away kit). It’s made with the Formotion and Climacool, technologies and looks destined to be popular with the Chelsea fans.

This kit follows a more conservative colouring of white and blue and will have its first airing tonight, as Brondby will be playing in Yellow and Blue.

We’re still not used to the electricity yellow Chelsea Away Shirt and are considering asking Birmingham, Blackburn, Everton, Portsmouth, Reading and Wigan to pass on home shirt colour advantage when they host Chelsea.

Chelsea 3rd Kit

The Chelsea 3rd shirt is available from the 30th August 2007.

Kaka - £60 million to Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly putting together a £60 million bid for Kaka.

Here at Footy-Boots HQ, we rarely publish transfer speculation, as all the UK tabloids do a very good job of stirring together some news. However, one transfer that seems to be kicking up a bit of steam overseas and is being neglected back in the ’sunny United Kingdom’ is that of the Brazilian Kaka.

Kaka is being recognised now as one of the leading footballers in the world, and with that tag, comes the inevitable stories linking the player with Real Madrid. So of course you wouldn’t want to bank on the deal going through, but several reports have suggested that Madrid are willing to pay a record sum for the gifted player.

Kaka’s Football Boots

Kaka football bootsShould Milan decide to cash in on Kaka, before his contract expires in 2011, Kaka will be taking his Adidas Predator Absolute football boots with him.

Kaka is one of the Adidas main figure heads behind David Beckham, but with a high profile move to Real Madrid could be of greater value to Adidas.

Should the deal go through, it would break the previous transfer record paid out by… you guessed it, Real Madrid - £50 million for Zinedine Zidane, from Juventus back in 2001.

Umbro Football Shirts

English football brand Umbro will lead the way in the Premiership next season, as they sponsor the shirts of six teams competing - more than any other sports brand.

Umbro football shirtsBirmingham, Blackburn, Everton, Sunderland, West Ham and Wigan will all run out on the first day of the season sporting the famous double diamond logo on their shirts. Umbro have had a constant presence in the Premiership since it’s conception in the early 90’s and continuing with this fine tradition these six clubs will contest an amazing 60 Premiership games between them next season in which the Umbro football shirt brand will feature exclusively.

6 of the Best

Umbro’s Director of Football, Simon Marsh said “As the authentic Football brand we are delighted to be working with all these great clubs and wish them all the best for the forthcoming season. It will be fantastic to see them all run out wearing Umbro kit when the season starts in August.”

Umbro are committed to supporting football at all levels and as well as partnerships with top Premiership clubs and players they continue to work with teams and players at the grass root level of the game.

The first trophy won by a team in an Umbro kit was way back in 1934 when Manchester City won the FA Cup. These successes have continued the world over since then and French side Lyon were the most recent addition to the list when they lifted Ligue 1 just a few months ago also wearing Umbro.

Ultra SX - Deco

Barca’s Deco stars in Umbro’s underwater football boot ad for the Ultra SX.

ultra_sxDeco stars in a new viral ad launching soon, advertising the waterproof technology created by Umbro for its Ultra SX football boot.

Deco was placed in a tank full of water playing around with a jelly filled football. He wore the new Umbro Ultra SX football boots for the duration of the shoot.

Paul Nugent - Director of Global Marketing at Umbro said: ” These are the first boots we have manufactured that feature new waterproof technology and we thought it would be interesting to try and get Deco to take part in an underwater shoot. ”

New Football Boots to Blame for Barton Injury

Joey Barton, broke his metatarsal because he was wearing bladed football boots, claims Carlisle management.

Joey Barton, the new Newcastle United midfielder, broke the metatarsal in his left foot on Saturday and had surgery Monday that will keep him out of action for six to eight weeks, meaning he will miss the start of the season.

Barton, a recent England international, was Newcastle’s captain on Saturday and at first, the injury didn’t look serious, there was no contact, but he pulled up sharply.

Carlisle United’s physio, Neil Dalton, who is qualified with a Diploma in Sports Therapy and a Degree in Physiotherapy, saw Barton pull up and was quite specific about the cause of the injury.

Dalton said;

“In my opinion these new boots have a lot to answer for, maybe there is just not enough protection on them. I do feel that is one of the reasons that we’re seeing more of this kind of injury, but it’s the players’ decision to wear. If it was up to me, they wouldn’t be allowed.”

What is a Metatarsal Injury?

The metatarsal bones are the long bones in the front part of the foot. They are the most common bone for stress fractures, simply because they bear so much of the body’s weight.

If your walking, your foot absorbs one and a half times your body’s weight. If your running, it is absorbing two, maybe three times the body’s weight. Jumping or twisting your foot whilst playing football can exert even more pressure on your foot.

Metatarsal Injuries and Football Boots

Lightweight football boots and football boots with bladed stud configurations are often cited as attributing factors which causes the injury to the metatarsal.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reported to have banned bladed boots at Manchester United and Craig Johnston, the inventor of the Predator football boot, has also gone on record blaming football boots.

Barton’s recent injury happened whilst he was wearing the new Nike Total 90 Laser football boot. The football boot had a mixed stud configuration of moulded and blades.

The boot manufacturers have been making efforts however, for example the Umbro Ultra SX football boots incorporate a metatarsal protection shock cushioning and hummel address the issue with conical round studs in the pivot point area under the metatarsal.

The FA Audit of injuries would suggest that there has not been an increase in metatarsal injuries, but we think it is high time football officials conducted some research, not just for the sake of the top professionals in the game, but also for the amateurs playing football for leisure.

Beckham’s Soccer Boots - Banned

AdidasHot on the heels of David Beckham’s debut for LA Galaxy, fresh controversy has been thrown onto the pitch, this time regarding Beckham’s soccer boots.

Adidas Predator Absolute Globe David Beckham’s football boot, the Adidas Predator Absolute Globe is made with a K Leather upper - a Kangaroo skin. Football boots made from Kangaroo leather are common for the top end, professional football boots.

Banned
In California, where David Beckham is now plying his trade, California’s highest court has prevented Adidas from selling football boots made from Kangaroo Leather.

The 31 page judgement issued this week, could seriously impact the sales of this football boot to local fans.

Adidas are fighting the judgement, claiming that the Californian law conflicted with the purpose of the US Endangered Species Act, which supported Australia’s efforts to control kangaroos, as there is an ever increasing number of Kangaroo’s ’springing’ up in Australia.

Adidas have also put on record that they do not make any football boots using the endangered or threatened kangaroo species; the eastern grey, the red, and the western grey.

It is unlikely that the ban will be in force for long however. Legislation allowing kangaroo derived products passed the state Senate earlier this year. It’s expected to go through the Assembly and land on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s desk as early as September.

Beckham’s Boots

David Beckham does not wear the Adidas Predator Absolute Globe made from Kangaroo Leather, he has opted for a synthetic version.

Back in 2006, British animal welfare group Viva! showed Beckham a film of kangaroos being harmed and allegedly used to provide the material for football boots. David Beckham switched from the Kangaroo Leather, opting for a synthetic version.

The Adidas Predator Absolute Globe, formerly known as the Adidas Predator Absolute DB Swerve, (it’s name was switched following Beckham’s move to LA), was exclusively designed and developed with and for David Beckham. It features a uniquely created map graphic which symbolises the global impact that David Beckham has brought to the football world.

Brand Beckham Wins, Again

David Beckham made his high profile début for LA Galaxy against Chelsea.

Adidas Predator Absolute GlobeBeckham is back, well sort of. His much anticipated début for LA Galaxy against Chelsea, in which Chelsea won 1 - 0, witnessed Beck’s come on a substitute in the 78th minute.

Beckham played 16 minutes including injury time. He touched the ball 12 times, took a corner and leaped over Steve Sidwell’s scything challenge.

That was about it, a début that would have gone pretty much unnoticed had it not been for Brand Beckham’s high profile.

Brand Beckham

Beckham Adidas Galaxy kitYou’ve got to hand it to Beck’s, he knows (or his advisor’s do) how to play the media.

Beckham’s lifetime deal with Adidas, reportedly worth £320 million, is already paying off. The new LA Galaxy shirt has already sold more than 200,000 times, and it has only been available for 1 week. That makes the shirt the best selling shirt in the world.

His signature football boots, renamed the Adidas Predator Absolute Globe, are also likely to be a huge hit for Adidas.

Perhaps most significant was the gate at the Home Depot Centre, 27,000 people watched the game, a marked improvement to the gate of their last competitive match which saw a lowly 2,000 in attendance.

Drogba’s New Football Boots - For Now…

Yellow and Green Should Never Be Seen - on the Football Field

Until Nike release the New Mercurial Vapor III Argon Blue football boots colourway for Didier Drogba, the Chelsea player with a penchant for the ludicrous hair-style, has been seen wearing the new Nike Mercurial Vapor III Cactus football boots.

Nike Cactus New ImageNot an unusual choice, seeing the amount of Cactus (or should that be cacti?) that have been on display around training grounds and in the recent Copa America tournament for Drogba to opt for a bit of a change from his long favoured blue MVIII’s. The fashion issue which made our hair stand on end, rather than Drogba’s which is usually hanging lanky around his shoulders, is he wore them with Chelsea’s Vomit Yellow new Adidas Away Kit! Can there be a worse combination of colours that is sure to make the opposition turn away - or is this a ploy to ensure a bloated Chelsea team capture the Premiership crown? Let us know your most hated colourways for football boots and shirts!

Totti Hangs Up His Football Boots

Francesco Totti Calls Time On His International Career

Diadora Football Boots - Maximus New ColourwayThe world of international football was dealt a blow today by the news that Diadora football boot wearer Francesco Totti is retiring from international football. Even though the AS Roma striker is only 30 years old, and appears in great shape, he has cited the reasons for his withdrawal as being for “physical” than any other reasons.

Totti confirmed the reports today at AS Roma’s training camp saying “Quitting is an ugly word, but yes, I have taken this decision. I’m closing with the national team for various physical reasons.” Totti sustained an ankle injury at last year’s World Cup, after which time he indicated that he would it cannot support playing for both Italy and Roma.

Francesco Totti Football Boots

Totti, considered by many to be Italy’s most talented player, is recognized for his on-field vision and ability to set up team-mates but he can also score when required. Totti was the top scorer in Europe last season with 26 goals while playing as an orthodox striker for Roma. He was used more as a playmaker with the national team, and retires with nine goals in 58 games. Totti is sponsored by Italian football boot maker Diadora, and wears the specially made Diadora “Pro Line” Totti 10 football boots.

The retirement adds to the growing number of players who feel they have to retire from the international game while continuing to play at club level, indicating the pace and physical nature of the game is at the highest it has ever been.

Football Boots News - John Terry’s Nice Little Earner

John Terry Tops The League Of Premiership Wages

Umbro football boot wearer John Terry has this week won his battle of wills over his club Chelsea, getting himself a bumper pay rise as well as a new five year deal! Terry’s wages will see him pick up £131,000 A WEEK, leap-frogging over his Chelsea team-mates Shevchenko and Ballack who get a paltry £121,000 a week in comparison. John Terry had made it clear that his heart belongs at Chelsea, but reports were that the London club were reluctant to pay out the big money wages, even for such an influential and productive player as Terry, whose wages are topped up by the football boot sponsorship of Umbro. Ballack and Shevchnko have been much criticised for their huge earnings which have not been converted in similarly huge performances on the pitch, with fans questioning the motivation for a player who is earning such a huge amount each week.

Lend Us A Tenner JT?

As all eyes now turn to Frank Lampard, who has also been locked in a battle of the cheque book with Chelsea, and the Terry move appears to suggest that Lampard could be offered a similarly wallet-busting deal that would see him laughing all the way to the nearest take-away! Football has become a hugely commercial sport and at the moment there does not seem to be an end to the wages the stars on the English Premier League can command - but who will be the first one to break the £150,000 a week mark?
