Reebok Sprintfit Football Boots 2007

What is next for Reebok Football Boots in 2007?

We know that the Reebok Sprintfit has been released in the white colourway, and that the black colourway, pictured below, will be released in August 2007, to be worn by Andriy Shevchenko. The question that puzzles us is what other colourways the exciting new Reebok Sprintfit football boot will be available in, and is that it from Reebok this year? Sure, the Reebok Pro Rage were the only football boots in the range, but surely with Adidas’ assistance and backing, Reebok will be looking to move up a gear and expand and give their loyal supporters some extra variety, options and bespoke configurations to further augment the range, which at the moment seems limited. We know the plans of Nike, Adidas, Umbro and Puma going forward until the end of the year, with all the football boot makers releasing new products, colourways, styles and options to maintain interest in their brand. It just seems to be very quiet from Reebok, and this makes us wonder if maybe this is the end of Reebok?

Of course if anyone at Reebok, or any Footy-Boots readers know different about Reebok’s plans for new football boots, then let us know!

Umbro Football Boots - Ultra SX, X Boot III and Destroyer Images

June is a busy month for new football boots, and the first to shine are Umbro, the English football boot maker that sponsors Micheal Owen, John Terry and Deco. Good timing in a week which sees the return to England duty for Owen following a long injury spell.

Umbro are releasing the Ultra SX, X Boot III in two new colourways and the X Boot Destroyer in a new colourway.

New Umbro SX Football Boots

Umbro Ultra SX Football BootsThe Ultra SX is an all-black boot, which lends the football boot an elegant and classy look as well as the predictably outlandish finishing from Umbro, and is a welcome relief from the original Umbro SX which featured different coloured boots (much to the confusion of many commentators, players and fans!).

New Umbro X Boot III All Black Football Boots

Umbro X Boot III BlackThe new Umbro X Boot III, worn by Owen, comes in a new all black, or black-out version, which actually has the effect of making the football boot look more spectacular than previous colourway versions, which seemed to detract from the styling of the football boot.

New Umbro X Boot III Navy Football Boots

Umbro X Boot III BlueThe X Boot III will also be available in a new navy colourway which will be a welcome addition to the X Boot III range.

New Umbro X Boot Destroyer Football Boots

Umbro X Boot DestroyerFans of flashy football boots (you know who you are!) need not be alarmed, as Umbro is catering for you by producing the X Boot Destroyer in a Silver colourway, finished in black and blue. This version of the Destroyer will be worn by Chelsea captain John Terry.

Verdict: Umbro have produced four new football boots that are notably different from the original incarnations of the SX, X Boot III and Destroyer. The new football boots not only have new styling and colourways, Umbro have also taken leaps with new technologies and configurations to offer a wide range of new football boots players of all abilities. The new Umbro football boots are due for release 13th June 2007.

The Players Tottenham Should Buy This Summer

Ex-Spurs Legend Graham Roberts On Tottenham’s Summer of Transfers

As the season closes, the football clubs begin their search for new players and a clear out of players surplus to requirements. Much of the attention this week is focused on Tottenham, with rumours of a big money buy-out from yet another American billionaire! But on the field is where the changes need to happen, and Footy Boots spoke exclusively to former Spurs legend, Graham Roberts to get the inside view.

Footy Boots asked Graham his thoughts on the potential £10million signing of Gareth Bale. “Gareth is a fantastic left back,” said Graham. “He is a great bet for the role of England left back in the future, so if true, its a great signing.” But Graham didn’t stop there - “Tottenham need more than a left back, they need a decent centre half, one or two midfielders AND a striker. But this signing is a good step in the right direction”.

Graham also gave us his thoughts on the potential transfer of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United for £40million. “Everybody’s got their price, and that money cannot be ignored by any club, ” said Graham “but I’m not too keen on Saha coming the other way on the deal - I’d prefer John O’Shea!”.

As always, straight talking from the Spurs hardman, and if you want to hear more from Graham and other Tottenham legends Dave Mackay, Pat Jennings and Steve Perryman there is a special evening’s entertainment, dinner and chat being held on Saturday 9th June. It promises to be a five star evening and includes a question and answer session with the stars all hosted by tv’s Mark Burdis.

New Football Boots - Mizuno Morelia MD

New Mizuno Football Boots Worn in Champions League Final

Mizuno ZendenWe’ve had lots of questions come in about the football boots worn by Liverpool’s Boudewijn (Bolo) Zenden in the Champions League Final against Milan. As we reported in our review of the match, Zenden was wearing Mizuno football boots, and we can reveal that he was sporting the Mizuno Morelia MD football boot in Pearl / Blue colourway. As regular football boot followers will be aware, Zenden displays a penchant for wearing different football boots - back in September 2005 he wore Nike, and then in November Puma’s, in which he suffered a knee injury. On his return in 2006, Zenden was seen in Diadora’s then for the first time in November in a Mizuno football boot. He switched back to Nike, wearing blackout Nike Legend football boots, but by the end of November he was back in his preferred Mizuno, wearing the Morelia version! Zenden has proved a favourite with Liverpool manager Benitez, being preferred to Harry Kewell who only has to step onto the pitch to become injured!

Kaka Football Boots - Champions League Heroes

Kaka leads Milan to Seventh Heaven Against Mis-Firing Liverpool

Adidas KakaThe Champions League Final between AC Milan and Liverpool saw Milan take the trophy for the 7th time on a night of despair and missed opportunities for Liverpool, who ultimately lacked the quality, decisiveness and ability to beat a classy and experienced Milan team. Liverpool spurned a host of chances and dominated the game for long periods, but even the heroics of captain Steven Gerrard were unable to rouse his team from their slumber, and they were defeated by the clinical finishing of Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi, wearing Diadora football boots.

Adidas Predator Absolute Champions League Football Boots

Adidas Predator Absolute Football BootsAs we reported, Kaka and Gerrard premiered the new Adidas Predator Absolute Champions League football boots, and were unexpectedly joined by Milan defender Nesta, who also wore the new Adidas football boot.

Champions League Final -The Football Boots

Adidas ruled the football boots in the final, with 9 players out of the 22 (41%) wearing Adidas football boots, although only 2 Milan players wore Adidas, while 7 Liverpool players sported the three stripes. Nike had 6 players wearing their football boots, with the only Nike Total 90 Laser worn by Gattuso, and we would have expected more players to be wearing this football boot due to the guaranteed massive media exposure surrounding the game. For the other football boot makers, as expected for an Italian team, Italian football boot maker Lotto were worn by 3 players, Puma were worn by 2 players (Oddo and Carragher) whilst Diadora (Inzaghi) and Mizuno (Zenden) each had a player wearing their football boots.

Champions League Football Boots Verdict

Adidas defeated all its rivals in the final match of the Champions League, as sponsor of both teams, the match ball and supplying new football boots to the two star attractions on opposite teams, guaranteeing a winning night for them. The night sees a return to form for the world’s leading football boot maker, and sends a strong message to its rivals at Nike, that there is still fight left in Adidas, and with the approaching release of the new David Beckham Predator football boots, their position as the world’s leader in terms of sales and marketing remains intact and unchallenged.

Adidas Football Boots - Kaka on the Champions League Final

Kaka Tells Us His Thoughts on the Final, Gerrard and Revenge!

Adidas KakaWith the tension mounting before tonight’s showcase European Champions League Final between Liverpool and AC Milan, the main focus is on Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and AC Milan’s Kaka - both players wearing the new Adidas Predator Absolute black and white football boots for the first time, and both keen to clinch the prized trophy for their clubs and supporters. But what does Predator football boot wearer Kaka actually think about how the final is going to play out, and is this the revenge final?

Q. So does Gattuso have to mark Gerrard to win the final?

K: Gattuso is a fundamental player for Milan because of the amount he runs, and the motivation which he transmits to the team. I can’t see Gattuso run the way he runs and not do anything. So for me, in the field, he is a great motivator. Now who he should mark or not mark is up to Ancelotti to decide.

Q. What do you think of Gerrard?

K: An excellent player. In my opinion, he is a modern player because he is a player who runs, marks, knows how to pass, cross, score goals, and he is a leader in the field for Liverpool. So he is a player that I’d like to have in my team.

Q. So what’s Milan’s advantage in comparison to Liverpool?

K: The advantage of Milan is the phase we are going through because we’ve been through difficult moments this season. We’ve oscillated between good and bad moments but we grew a lot in the most important moment of the season, which is at the end. So we had an excellent quarter final round and now we reached the finals in a very motivated spirit.

Q. Liverpool doesn’t have one star striker. Milan doesn’t have one star striker. You score, Gerrard scores goals…Does this make the final a lot more difficult as well?

K: Let’s see what happens. These are teams that scored many goals. They’re teams that beat important teams, so even without having this characteristic of prolific strikers, I think we have good strikers who can decide the game.

Q. What memory do you have of the 2005 final? Is it a positive memory because you played in a Champion’s League final or is the result something you want to forget?

K: There are many moments in that final for me. I have good moments and bad moments. Of course we lost the final. The way we lost, winning the game three zero and then losing in the penalty shots. It’s really a strong memory because of that but as I said before, it’s a thing of the past. For me the experience of having reached a final, having participated in a Champion’s League final is what counts. And now I have that once again. So I also have good memories of that opportunity.

Q. The team played perfectly in the second game against Manchester. Was your game perfect in the first game against Manchester? Two goals at Old Trafford?

K: I like to do a general balance of the semi-final. I think that three goals against Manchester is something really special. To be able to score three goals against a team like Manchester, two at Old Trafford and one at San Siro was a privilege. But it’s like I always say, it’s about the pleasure of taking my team forward, helping my team, and my team mates being able to count on me.

Q. The word on everyone’s mouth at the moment is revenge. Is it a word you don’t even want to hear about?

K: No. I don’t talk about revenge because what happened in 2004 and 2005 is in the past. It has been marked in history that Liverpool were champions in 2004 and 2005. So I’ll have the opportunity to play once again against them and have the opportunity to make our mark in history this time. So I hope the result is different.

Q. Who will win the final?

K: Milan!

Footy Boots Verdict:

didas Predator Absolute Champions League Football Boots SMLWe are sure Gerrard would disagree - but whatever happens, it is going to be a great match, and as for a Footy-Boots prediction? Well, all we are going to say is that the winner is going to be wearing Adidas Predator Absolute black and white football boots - you can bet on that!

Adidas Finale Athens BallTomorrow’s Champions League Final in Athens between Liverpool and AC Milan should perhaps be renamed the Adidas Final, as the German football boot maker not only sponsors both teams, but also will be supplying the match ball, the Adidas Finale Athens and the game will feature two of Adidas‘ top players, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard and Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, better known as Kaka of AC Milan. The two Adidas players are expected to play leading roles in the game, as both have had outstanding seasons so far, with Kaka heading the list for the Champions League Golden Boot award.

Kaka and Gerrard’s New Adidas Predator Football Boots

Adidas Predator Absolute Football Boots

Taking advantage of the estimated global audience of over one billion people, Adidas has chosen the final to showcase the launch of it’s new football boot, the Adidas Predator Absolute in black and white, which will be known as the Adidas Predator Absolute Champions League, replacing the previous red and white colourway version. Clever thinking by the boys from Herzogenaurach, even though the release date for the new football boot is 12th July 2007, a full 7 weeks away! Both Gerrard and Kaka have been spotted in training wearing the black and white football boot with gives a tantalising clue as to the styling and performance we can expect from this new generation of Predator football boot.

Adidas +Predator Absolute Champions League Football Boots

didas Predator Absolute Champions League Football Boots SMLThe +Predator Absolute features PowerPulse technology which shifts the centre of gravity closer to the point of impact. For even more power simply insert the PowerPulse insoles. Want the lightest Predator ever? Then it’s a matter of moments to swap.

PowerPulse technology was developed in co-operation with the University of Calgary and delivers the sort of sweet spot science more usually found in golf clubs. Scientists found that shooting with these boots increased ball speed by 2% compared to the most recent Predator, or by 5% compared to a standard football boot.

Adidas logoThe boot comes with two insoles, one with a specially positioned 40g weight and one without. The weight, which has been moved from other parts of the boot, sits behind the foot at the point of impact creating maximum power transfer. The interchangeable insoles allow players to customise to their needs, providing the most powerful Predator ever, or the lightest.

The radical re-design of the boot also applies to the Engineered Predator Technology (the famous rubber fins that create the power & swerve) resulting in a striking new look and snug fit.

Price: £130

Release Date: 12th July 2007.

Our Verdict: An exceptionally classy and impressive colourway and design for the new Adidas Predator Absolute which is a worthy successor to the Champions League edition and worthy of being premiered at the showcase Champions League Final. Adidas is clearly hitting back and hitting back hard following their rivals recent launches, and imperious performances by its stars Kaka and Gerrard could see the new football boot hit the stars on its launch!

The FA Cup Final - Pre-Match Headlines

- First showing of new Reebok Sprintfit football boots
- £3.90 for a hot dog, £10 for a programme

- Chelsea without Shevchenko, Ballack and Carvalho

The FA Cup Final - The Build-Up

Umbro FA Cup X Ball IIIRyan Giggs led out Manchester United, wearing the new Reebok Sprintfit, and kicked off the FA Cup final in the new football boots. Opposite, was Umbro stalwart, John Terry wearing the blue Umbro X Boot Vengeance, in a way the home favourite with Umbro’s close ties to Wembley and the players using a special limited edition Umbro FA Cup X Ball III football seen for the first time on the dodgy-looking Wembley turf.

The FA Cup Final - The Football Boots

Nike Total 90 Laser Football Boots WhiteIt was Nike (Man U) versus Adidas (Chelsea) in the sponsors of kits, but in the football boots of the players, it was Nike who took the upper hand, with 10 out of the starting 22 (45%) wearing Nike football boots. The black and white Nike Total 90 Laser football boots worn by Rooney, Ferdinand, Essien and Makelele - the yellow colourway having been ditched for this match at least. 5 players wore the stripes of Adidas, with 4 players wearing Puma football boots.

The Reebok Sprintfit was on display for the first time, but in truth, Giggs has an awful game, even missing an easy goal-scoring chance, and his touch and control severely let him down. How much that is to do with his new football boots, we are not sure, as team-mate Ronaldo stuck to his trusted ice white Nike Mercurial Vapor III football boots, instead of wearing the new Vapor in the silver colourway, and also had a subdued and uneventful game.

The FA Cup Final - The Game

Adidas +Predator Absolute TRX FG (Deep Space)As a show piece final watched around the globe, the game was an insipid and tepid one, with both teams adopting similar formations, each playing with a lone-striker, who were both left unsupported through most of the game. In effect, the teams cancelled each other out, and even a few runs and shots by the huffing and puffing Frank Lampard, in his Adidas Predator Deep Space football boots failed to ignite the touch paper.

The FA Cup Final - The Extra Time

Adidas tunit orangeAfter a goal-less 90 minutes, extra time seemed to be only a prelude to the inevitable penalty shoot-out, but Chelsea bought on Salomon Kalou, wearing the orange Adidas Tunit 50.7, and he lit up the pitch with his football boots, and skill. Ryan Giggs stuck with his Reebok Sprintfit through the match, but failed to show us any reason why the Sprintfit is such a good football boot, and was substituted before the end. With the game ending and the tempo building, it took the cool football boot of golden boot winner Didier Drogba to seal the match, his Nike Mercurial Vapor III Deep Royal Football Boots slotting home the only goal with just three minutes to go, sealing United’s fate, grabbing the FA Cup for the blues, and going down in history as scoring the first FA Cup goal in the new Wembley stadium.

FA Cup Final - Football Boots: The Winners and Losers

Umbro Football BootsThe magnificent John Terry, in his Umbro X Boots, led his teams up the 107 steps to collect the Cup from Aston Villa fan Prince William, which marks the end of a difficult season for the club. United will be happy with the Premiership title, but will rue their failures on the European stage. In terms of football boots, Nike clearly won the day with its impressive count and display of the Nike Total 90 Lasers, even though the winning team is sponsored by Adidas, so honours even on that front. For the other football boot makers, Reebok will be keen to forget their first showing of the Sprintfit, whilst Umbro must have been cock-a-hoop to see their torch bearer lift the cup and take the glory!

Celebrate Chelsea’s win with our special offer saving over 50% on the Umbro Xai V, previously worn by John Terry. But hurry, these are selling fast and once they are gone, they are gone!! View our offers page for more.
